 THE NEWS

  • French producer Mr Oizo scores a massive hit with the help of a Levis advert and a yellow puppet called Flat Eric.

  • 1999 is a golden year for Trance with tracks like "Carte Blanche" by Verracocha, ATB's "9pm" and "Xpander" by Sasha.

  • Ultra Music Festival holds it's first event in Miami.

  • Ferry Corsten collabs with Tiesto on their Gouryella project.

  • Drum & Bass legend Kemistry dies.

  • Legendary clubbing movie Human Traffic is released, launching the careers of John Simm and Danny Dyer.

  • Paul Oakenfold leaves his Cream tesidency.

  • Fabric London opens it's doors for the first time

  • Galaxy 105-106 launches across the North East.

  • Ministry of Sound Recordings expands down under - establishing Ministry of Sound Australia

  • London's Kiss 100 is rebranded with a new logo and focuses on more mainstream pop.

  • Superclub Home opens its doors in London’s Leicester Square and Homelands festival launches in the UK and Ireland.

  • Gatecrasher buys it's 2nd club in Sheffield - the former Music Factory, which after a huge refurb becomes Bed.

  • As the millennium comes to a close, some of the UK's biggest clubs hold once-in-a-lifetime New Year's Eve events including Cream's huge party at the Pierhead in Liverpool and the 25,000 strong Don Valley Stadium for Gatecrasher.

  • Dutch label Spinnin' Records is formed by Eelko van Kooten and Roger de Graaf.
