• Manchester punk & electronic music label Factory Records declares bankruptcy. The label spent all their funds recording the Happy Mondays album, Yes Please!, which flopped. 

 

• The Shamen’s Ebeneezer Goode, widely criticised for containing many allusions to the drug Ecstasy, stayed at the top of the UK charts for four weeks.

• ITV show The Hitman and Her comes from the Eclipse in Coventry.

 

• The KLF performed a thrash metal version of ‘3am Eternal’ with Extreme Noise Terror at the Brit Awards, then delivered a dead sheep to the afterparty. The band then announce their retirement and delete their back catalogue.
